Great location on the river bank. Elephant, water buck and more to see. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Friendly staff at reception and the restaurant. Close proximity to Malelane Gate. Good for a short stay - we stayed only 1 night, but there is a lovely pool and play space for kids, so probably also great for a weekend getaway.

Everything was beautiful 😍 the staff was welcoming, friendly and neat. They made our Easter weekend bearable and smooth
Easy access and quick access. We went off season but had pre-booked with SANParks, so a word of warning, don't pre-book unless it's high season to guarantee access. It doesn't specify this when booking, so we thought we were paying the conservation fees.
You're free to roam around in your own vehicle and don't need an off-roader. There is an abundance of wildlife so you don't even need to stay for 3 days. We went for 2 hours on our own and saw elephants, rhinos, 'pumbas' and impalas.
The toilets are few and far between so either go when you find them or you'll have to do it at the side of the road...without straying into the Bush.
We then went for a full day with a guide who knows the area better and took us to the watering holes we probably would've never found on our own, where giraffes, wildebeest, hippos and elephants were all hanging out.
A note about Malaria: we read that malaria was found around Kruger and had conflicting advice about taking anti-malaria tablets. In the end, we just covered our legs and arms (even though it was hot) and sprayed mosquito repellent with 50% deet.
In short, Kruger is a must, but don't expect to see leopards or cheetahs, as they are, quite literally, impossible to 'spot'.

Malelane is very beautiful and easy to get around.
Malelane is very beautiful and easy to get around. I loved the wild life the most, it was pleasant view to watch the birds and animals roaming around freely. The staff at the gate were very friendly and helpful. Wish I had more time to give a constructive review but went to the park for just half a day and managed to see some of the big 5 which was the purpose of my visit.

There is supermarkets for pre Kruger shopping on the road out of Malalene. Major roadworks taking place out of Malalene. Beware of trucks and drive carefully. Not recommended to drive in the dark while roadworks in place.

Pastana still remains for me the most affordable best and well managed accommodation in Malelane.
The Restuarant always meet my expectation of the wide spread of eats available.
Malelane is very easy to navigate. It has all the amenities to accommodate a travelers needs
The town is very clean .
I would avoid accommodation I have not visited before. A picture tell a thousand tales. But some can be very deceiving and uncomfortable.

Malelane town is totally unappealing.
Malelane town is totally unappealing. The only reason for staying in the suburb we stayed in was a) it is outside the town and b) is close to the Kruger Park entrance. We stayed in Mhlathikop suburb, which is nice and can be recommended.
Simi at reception went above and beyond what I would have expected. She arranged to hold my room after I had car troubles for a further night. Ended up needing it and it was no problem to confirm and pay. She arranged a jump start for my car when the battery was flat. Location is great firstly for the views across the Crocodile River in Kruger and a mere 10 minute's drive to the Malelane Gate. The Upper Deck restaurant made a special meal for me as I cannot chew due to injuries from an accident.
This hotel has an amazing garden, terrace and restaurant area overlooking the Crocodile River on the perimeter of Kruger Park. The views are spectacular and you can observe many birds and animals. The highlight for us was watching a herd of elephants including some very young calves coming to the river to drink.
Accommodation and parking were perfect and the staff were really welcoming and helpful.
We are looking forward to visiting again!
Overnighted at Mhlati Cottages before entering Kruger National Park during December. Very impressed with the service, stay and the location of the Mhlati cottages only a stone throw away from the Malelane gate. Ideally located and equipped for anyone that would like to travel into Kruger as a day visitor or as a overnight stop before entering. The breakfast offered was also excellent.
Superb location with views over the Crocodile River and Kruger Park. The staff so fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Service was always with a smile. Large comfortable, clean rooms with daily servicing. New towels daily(which is probably not necessary) and sheets are neatly made up and I suspect ironed as well! The Malelane gate into Kruger is only a 10-15min drive away
This accommodation was perfect for our visit to Kruger Park. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The Lodge is only about a 15 minute drive to the Malelane gate and located on the Crocodile River. The restaurant has the most spectacular views of the river with sunsets that did not disappoint. The food was excellent and exceeded our expectation.
I think this place is totally what you need after spending all day at the Kruger Park. Very convenient parking and braai zone.
Spar in 5 min by car
Of course the terrace near the Crocodile river is amazing, such as big baobab tree on the territory.
Greg is a great host. Thank you, Greg!
was an easy check-in, and very hospitable host.
The location is excellent in Malelane, close to all amenities but private as well, and close to the Kruger park.
We departed early, and the host offered to prepare a breakfast pack - which was very kind of them.
Amazing place on the bank of Crocodile river. Very close to Malelane gate. You however do not need to enter Kruger, you can just relax on the patio and watch the animals in Kruger Park just across the river. Jabu is a great hostess.
Great location to stay at before or after going to Kruger National Park. The room was clean and comfortable and spacious. The couch bed was comfortable for an adult. Lovely toiletries. Good security and very close to the N4.
Super friendly and helpful staff. They accommodated all our needs for example extra early breakfast.
The view from hotel terrace is amazing. If you stay there during the season, you will able to see the hippos.
Great views (both from the room balcony and the viewing deck) over looking the Crocodile River into the Kruger National Park. Beautifully maintained gardens. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.
The hosts are great and very welcoming. The apartment is situated in a very safe neighborhood and is perfectly located near to the Malelane Gate of Kruger - so perfect for an early game drive.
Unique place. Old style hospitality in a funky classical and traditional environment set on the Crocodile River with animals from the Kruger National Park frequenting.
Chalets look out over Crocodile river and Kruger park, we saw so many animals just sitting on our stoep. Lovely comfortable beds and linen. Well Equipped kitchen.
